It All Starts with the Diagnosis

Our commitment to providing an accurate diagnosis starts with our technology. Our diagnostic techniques and devices include:

  • Optomap Technology: This panoramic digital imaging system can capture an ultra-wide, detailed view of your retina.
  • Corneal Topography—This test can provide a detailed map of your cornea’s surface, which can be crucial for assessing conditions like keratoconus.
  • Anterior & Posterior Segment OCT Scans—These scans are high-resolution cross-sectional images of your eye that aid in the diagnosis of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other conditions.
  • Visual field testing—This test helps assess how well you can see things around you (peripheral vision), not just straight ahead, to help detect conditions such as glaucoma.
  • Meibography—We capture high-definition images of the oil glands in your eyelids to assess their health and function, helping us manage conditions like dry eye.

During your eye exam, we may recommend additional testing based on your risk of developing specific eye conditions.

Common Eye Diseases & Conditions

Our team prioritizes proactive eye health management, focusing on early detection to address, manage, and treat the warning signs of developing eye conditions.

Your eyes are unique, and so are the potential risks that could affect your vision. That’s why we have invested in modern technology, so we can provide thorough eye exams and personalized eye health management.

Comprehensive eye exams can also uncover signs of broader health issues, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, allowing us to collaborate with you and refer you to specialists if needed.

When you visit us, we listen to your concerns and discuss your family history so we can get a detailed understanding of your risk factors for serious eye conditions.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause optic nerve damage. The optic nerve sends visual information from your eyes to your brain, and optic nerve damage can lead to vision loss and blindness.

There are different types of glaucoma, but many develop without easily noticeable early symptoms and can lead to permanent vision loss if not caught and managed. High intraocular pressure (IOP) is a significant risk factor for glaucoma, so we take that into consideration during your eye exams.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive disease that damages your macula and affects your central vision. Macular damage can make daily activities like reading and driving much more difficult.

There are 2 common types of AMD:

  • Dry AMD is the more common form of the disease and occurs when the macula thins with age.
  • Wet AMD is less common but can develop quickly and cause severe vision loss. It occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow in the back of the eye and damage the macula.

We use Optos retinal imaging to diagnose macular degeneration.

Cataracts develop when the eye’s usually clear lens becomes clouded, causing blurry vision, faded or yellowed colors, and difficulty seeing at night.

Cataracts begin when proteins in the eye clump together, partially blocking light from reaching the retina, the thin layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye. They often occur due to natural age-related changes in the eyes.

If cataracts progress to a later stage and prevent you from going about your daily activities, such as reading or driving, we may recommend cataract surgery. We can help you find the right doctor for cataract surgery.

People with diabetes can be at a higher risk of developing certain eye conditions because of damage to blood vessels in the eye. Diabetic retinopathy is 1 of those conditions related to blood vessel damage. It is a common cause of vision loss for those with diabetes.

Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection and management of conditions like diabetic retinopathy.

Take Control of Migraines & Light Sensitivity with Avulux

Light sensitivity is a common symptom that can trigger or worsen migraines. Avulux migraine lenses can filter out harmful blue, amber, and red light wavelengths to help reduce migraine frequency and severity, leading to fewer disruptions in your day.

Avulux lenses can create a more comfortable visual environment for those with chronic light sensitivity by blocking harmful light and allowing beneficial wavelengths.

We can assess your individual needs and determine if these lenses can provide effective relief.
