Eyeglass Lenses

There are various lens choices in design and the material to be used to make your eyeglasses.

Progressive lenses are a natural correction that provides seamless vision for distance, near and points in between. Besides giving comfortable vision, the need for the tell-tale line of the bifocal is eliminated making the glasses esthetically more pleasing. There are many types of progressive designs, some work better than others. The latest and best design is the digitally surfaced progressive. Our staff will be able to explain the differences and recommend which will work the best for your lifestyle needs.

Bifocal and trifocal lenses are still available and used for certain circumstances.

Lens materials include CR39, polycarbonate, high index and trivex. CR39 is the basic plastic lens material and is sufficient for mild prescriptions. High index materials are lighter and thinner than CR39. For higher prescriptions it is recommended to improve the look and comfort of your eyeglasses. All sportswear and children’s glasses require the strength and safety of either polycarbonate or Trivex materials. The staff at Dr C Optometry will provide you with the material that will work best for your needs.
